Amalgamation plan rejected by voters

The recent polls on possible amalgamation in the Nelson area saw clear results from the polls on amalgamation between Nelson City Council and Tasman District Council – the overall result was a no for the plan, with Nelson voters more in favour, but a majority of Tasman voters wanting no part of a merger.

Parker positive on Brownlee plan

The Government’s plan to set up a new Christchurch Central Development unit has already been seen by some as a slap in the face for Christchurch City Council. The city’s Mayor Bob Parker says the unit is a “true partnership” with central government.
